Walking with Whitman, 2006

On March 19th, 2006, together with a group of students from Eugene Lang College and actress and Professor Cecilia Rubino, I embarked on a walk retracing the footsteps of Walt Whitman, from the Greenwich Village to the Brooklyn Bridge.
The fragments of printed text on the drawing are culled from Whitman's "Crossing Brooklyn Ferry"; the handwritten text are my own thoughts taken during the walk.
The images are based on photographs taken during the walk, as well as documentary photographs of the Broolyn Bridge.
